History of the Buryat State Agricultural Academy

Buryat State Agricultural Academy is the oldest university in Buryatia, founded in 1931. For more than 90 years of its existence, the BSAA has secured the right to be called one of the best universities in Buryatia!

The foundation of the BGHA

Federal State-Funded Educational Institution of Higher Education "Buryat State Agricultural Academy named after V.R. Filippov'' (FSFEI HE Buryat State Agricultural Academy) was established in accordance with the Decree of the Board of the People's Commissariat of Agriculture of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics of August 13, 1931 № 38 as the Buryat-Mongol State Agro-Pedagogical Institute.

The BSAA changed its name several times, the first half of the XX century

by the decree of the USSR Council of People's Commissars of the USSR from December 25, 1932 - to the Buryat-Mongol Agricultural Institute;
by the decree of the USSR SNK and the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks (b) from June 16, 1935 - to the Buryat-Mongol Zooveterinary Institute;
by the order of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR from March 21, 1960 № 1516 - to the Buryat Agricultural Institute.

BSAA changed its name several times, second half of XX - beginning of XXI century

by order of the State Committee of the Russian Federation for Higher Education from April 3, 1995 № 466 - to the Buryat State Agricultural Academy;
by the order of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia from February 27, 1997 № 64 - to the state educational institution "Buryat State Agricultural Academy", which was registered in this status by the registration chamber of the administration of Ulan-Ude on April 16, 1997;
by the order of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia from May 29, 2002 № 525 the Academy - to the federal state educational institution of higher professional education "Buryat State Agricultural Academy named after V.R. Filippov";
by the order of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia from March 31, 2015 № 36-u the Academy was renamed into the federal state educational institution of higher education "Buryat State Agricultural Academy named after V.R. Filippov".

Today the BSAA is

a modern multidisciplinary university with human resources, research and innovation and educational potential. The Academy trains qualified personnel capable of ensuring the development of modern technologies in agriculture, modernization of the agrarian sector of the economy and social sphere of rural areas. The formation of educational programs at the university is carried out taking into account the requirements of professional standards, the demands of employers and the development of the labor market in the Far East and Siberia, as well as the needs of federal projects implemented in the territories of advanced development of the Far East region. Over 90 years of activity, more than 45 thousand graduates have been trained not only for the regions of Russia, but also for other countries!
